A port worker based in the United Kingdom (UK) was impressed by the profile of high-end vehicles being shipped to Kenya while most neighbouring countries appeared to be sourcing jalopies from the European nation. The worker noted that most vehicles shipped to Kenya were modern German machines or popular European models and that only the latest models of Japanese vehicles made it to Kenya. A few Tanzanians blamed the Tanzanian Revenue Authority (TRA) for imposing heavy import duty fees on imported vehicles.
