Rishi Sunak is gambling on a £2.4 billion tax break to help win the support of pensioners as he battles to remain in power. The Prime Minister promised to increase the income tax personal allowance for pensioners, giving them a tax cut worth around £95 in 2025-26, rising to £275 in 2029-30. Speaking in West Sussex yesterday, the Labour leader praised Brits' "resilience" amid the "hardship" from the cost of living crisis. He hit out at Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's claim that the country's economic situation had improved.
