Last Wednesday there were 190 confirmed fatalities, while a fortnight ago the figure was 487. A month ago, on February 17, the Department of Health announced 738 people had died, meaning the daily figure has fallen by 81 per cent. And appearing to back an inquiry, he said Parliament should have an “urgent, very very hard look into what went wrong and why”.
