Health News of Monday, 19 January 2026Source: www.ghanaweb.comThe University of Ghana Medical School (UGMS) has dismissed claims circulating on social media that its researchers have developed a cassava-based compound capable of reversing Type 2 diabetes. “The University of Ghana Medical School has not conducted any such study, has not isolated any compound by that name, and has not undertaken clinical trials of the nature described,” the statement said. “The claims regarding regulatory approvals, pharmaceutical lawsuits, and licensing are fabricated,” UGMS stated. “The University of Ghana Medical School maintains the highest standards of scientific integrity and ethical research practice,” it noted. “Members of the public are advised to rely only on information released through official University of Ghana channels,” the statement added.
