UFC Fighter Fighting For A Bigger Cause

If there’s one thing UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) fighter Leslie Smith knows how to do, it’s getting back up when knocked down. Although Smith holds a record of 10-7-1 as a four-year UFC veteran and is ranked as a top 10 fighter, she’s best known for her fight to create a fighter’s union. The topic of a fighter’s union or association isn’t new. Attempts such as the MMAFA (Mixed Martial Arts Fighters Association) and PFA (Professional Fighters Association) were created in attempts to start the conversation on equality and benefits for the fighters. Smith and her crew (other fighters and legal counsel) are striving to achieve the support needed (30 percent of UFC fighters) to be the exclusive collective bargaining agent for the fighters.
