UE got off on the right foot, stymying NU with quick passing, an ability to beat the trap, and getting key contributions from different players. UE’s front court of Acuno, Wilson Bartolome and Shannon Gagate outplayed their NU counterparts Issa Gaye, Matt Aquino and Jonas Tibayan. Come crunch time, after NU led, 68-67, after an Issa Gaye free throw with 5:29 left to play, Jason Varilla drilled a three from the left corner pocket to give UE the lead for good. Pasaol led UE with 22 points and 14 rebounds while Acuno scored 20 points and grabbed 7 boards. Dave Ildefonso led NU with 14 points while JV Gallego added 10.
