Kitui East constituency Member of Parliament Hon Nimrod Mbai has broken his silence after he was captured in a viral video beating up a Kenya Power Lighting Company official who was disconnecting power from his residence in Kitengela. While speaking to the Star, the vocal legislator claimed that he was invaded by KPLC staff in his house. According to the video, the MP was seen raining slaps on KPLC officials and at one moment, he was seen trying to reach out at his gun that was placed at his back. While defending himself, the KPLC official who was assaulted said that power at the MP house was illegally connected adding that no engineers outside Kitengela could be given a job without being consulted. The KPLC official later filed an assault case at Kitengela police station wanting action to be taken against the lawmaker who rained slaps on him at the full glares of the cameras.
