The winner will challenge NDP MLA Marie Renaud in the next election. The riding is currently represented by UCP MLA Mark Smith, who announced in September that he would not run for re-election. Brad Rutherford not running for re-electionLeduc-Beaumont MLA Brad Rutherford announced on Facebook that he will not run for re-election. The UCP places a distant section with 38 per cent and the Alberta Party trails with 3 per cent. The Alberta Party has nominated 3 candidates.
