Caption U.S. forces launched more than 50 cruise missiles at a Syrian military airfield. The operation was authorized by the Trump administration in retaliation for a chemical attack killing scores of civilians. “President Assad holds the sole responsibility for this development,” the leaders said in a joint statement. The air base is believed to be where chemical weapons were loaded onto aircraft that carried out the bombing in Idlib.
