Top U.S. national security agencies in a rare joint statement Tuesday said Russia was likely responsible for a massive hack of U.S. government departments and corporations, rejecting President Donald Trump's claim that China might be to blame. The intruders had been stalking through government agencies, defence contractors and telecommunications companies for at least seven months when it was discovered. The U.S. Treasury and Commerce departments are among the agencies to have been affected. Nor has Microsoft, which said it identified more than 40 compromised government and private targets, most in the U.S. The U.S. Department of the Treasury was one of the government bodies hit by the hack.
