U.S. stocks turned higher Tuesday, accelerating toward the end of the session, as investors parsed earnings results from the biggest banks for insights on the health of the American economy and its lenders. The S&P 500 rose 1.3% after wavering earlier in the session. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 2.1%. The Nasdaq Composite advanced 0.9%.
