U.S. stocks advanced Friday after data showed the U.S. labor market added more jobs than expected in April. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 201 points, or 0.8%, to 26510, following two straight days of losses. The S&P 500 rose 0.9% and the Nasdaq Composite added 1.3%. All 11 sectors in the S&P 500 were higher, led by gains in consumer-discretionary, energy and industrial stocks. All three major indexes are roughly flat for the week on its final trading day.
