U.S. Senators Want 'Sweeping Changes' At Facebook, Not 'Bargain' $5 Billion Fine


With President Trump's criticism of the bans on the far-right reverberating, two U.S. senators penned an open letter to the Federal Trade Commission, demanding that the imminent sanctions against Facebook go much further than the "bargain" $3 billion to $5 billion fine that is expected. "In the same quarter [that] it reported the FTC fine, Facebook recorded $15 billion in revenue, beating market expectation," wrote the Senators. In the eyes of regulators and lawmakers, Zuckerberg doesn't help his own case. The FTC investigation has been running in the background throughout, to which have been added other U.S. criminal investigations. "The Facebook investigation will be a defining moment for the Commission," signed off the Senators.
