U.S. traffic fatalities fell for a second consecutive year in 2018, a decline federal safety regulators attribute to auto makers outfitting more new vehicles with safety technologies that better protect when accidents occur. Vehicle crashes killed 36,560 people on U.S. roadways last year, a 2.4% decline from 2017, according to data released Tuesday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
