U.S. House intelligence committee chair says there's no evidence for Trump's wiretap claims


The chair of the U.S. House of Representatives intelligence committee said on Tuesday he had seen no evidence to support President Donald Trump's allegation he was wiretapped by then president Barack Obama during the 2016 presidential campaign. "The president is a neophyte to politics — he's been doing this a little over a year," Nunes told reporters. "We are supposed to be kept up to speed on any pertinent counterintelligence investigation," Nunes said. "The president has said that this is a scandal that dwarfs Watergate — that his predecessor engaged in an illegal wiretap of his campaign. Former director of national intelligence James Clapper, former Central Intelligence Agency director John Brennan and former acting attorney general Sally Yates were also invited.
