Consumers’ outlook on the U.S. economy worsened in April, as a survey suggested the impact of tax cuts has now run its course for American households. The University of Michigan said Friday its preliminary index of consumer sentiment was 96.9 this month, down from March’s final reading of 98.4. That undershot economists’ expectations for a preliminary reading of 98.0.
