U.K. Home Secretary Sajid Javid confirmed on Thursday that he has signed an order to extradite Wikileaks co-founder Julian Assange to the U.S., where he faces charges of computer hacking, following a request from the U.S. government. There’s an extradition request from the U.S. that is before the courts tomorrow [Friday] but yesterday [Wednesday] I signed the extradition order and certified it and that will be going in front of the courts tomorrow,” Mr. Javid told the BBC. “We have received the full extradition request, which has been certified by the Home Secretary. The charges against Mr. Assange under the U.S. Swedish prosecutors had dropped their rape investigation in 2017 but reopened it after Ecuador withdrew its offer of asylum to Mr. Assange in April this year and allowed Scotland Yard to arrest him.
