And that luck — barring some great turnaround in the polls — seems to have continued into the election campaign. A more middle ground Labour Party would have seen the opportunity to have shelved its more radical policies in favour of proposals more likely to win over the general public. Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and his colleagues talk about this being a “once in a generation opportunity for change” — and so it is.
