A Z nail thrown from a stolen car pursued by police lies on the footpath alongside State Highway 1 in Timaru. Several vehicles, including a police car, were punctured as Z-shaped nails were dumped on State Highway 1 in Timaru by the occupants of a stolen car being chased by police. SUPPLIED A car with a Z-shaped nail in it's tyre after they were thrown from a stolen car being pursued by police in Timaru. Timaru motorist Joe Hill was one of the unlucky motorists to have a tyre punctured by the Z-shaped nails. In a separate incident just minutes before the Timaru police chase began, Ashburton police were involved in a chase on on State Highway 1 at about 11.45pm on Sunday.
