The Federal Road Safety Corps has attributed a lone crash along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which claimed at least four lives and left eight others injured, to a tyre burst and excessive speed. PUNCH Metro gathered on Monday that the accident occurred on Sunday near Christopher University, along the Mowe corridor of the expressway, and involved a Toyota Hiace bus. The crash occurred at about 9:18pm when the bus, conveying 13 passengers and reportedly travelling at high speed, suffered a tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control. “The incident occurred at approximately 21:18 hours directly in front of Christopher University on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. “Preliminary investigations suggest the crash was caused by a tyre burst and speed violation, which led the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
