The Hong Kong Observatory said this afternoon that it will consider issuing the standby signal number 1 tomorrow morning. The weather will also turn windy with heavy squally showers and thunderstorms in the next couple of days. The area of low pressure near Luzon in the Philippines came within 800 kilometres of Hong Kong this afternoon. It remains loosely organised and maintains a distance from Hong Kong, and it therefore will not affect the local weather directly tonight. The area of low pressure will further develop into a tropical depression in the next couple of days, and edge closer to the vicinity of the coast of western Guangdong to Hainan Island gradually.
