The district administration officials distributed Eid delicacies and new clothes among the survivors and the relatives of the landslide victims in 22 shelter homes in Rangamati and Kaptai on Sunday. Over 160 people were killed in devastating mudslides in six southeastern districts two weeks ago, of which 120 were killed in Rangamati alone. Some 3,500 people, most of whom are the relatives of the victims or the landslide survivors, took shelter in 22 government-run houses as they lost everything to the disaster. The initiative of the district administration brought some smile to the faces of the inmates at the shelter homes. According to the district administration, in Rangamati alone some 2,000 families have been affected in the landslides and flash floods.
