Two town halls have been forced to take down flags marking International Women's Day after campaigners called them a 'hostile transphobic dog whistle'. The flags bore the slogan 'Woman, noun, adult female' echoing a campaign created by feminist blogger Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull. Ms Keen-Minshull is a feminist who does not believe that trans women are women. Detractors say that by denying that trans women are women and should be treated as such, she is engaging in hatred towards trans people. Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull started Standing for Women as a pressure group which maintains that only people born as women can be called women.
