GEORGE TOWN: A second-hand car salesman and an Indonesian boat skipper who were charged with drug trafficking were sent to the gallows by a High Court here. In the first case, Mohd Amin was charged with trafficking in 57.3kg of cannabis on May 11, 2016 at 11am at a house in Taman Aman Putera in Kepala Batas. The offence under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 39B(2) of the same Act carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction. He also faced another charge under Section 9(1) of the Poisons Act 1952 for possessing 994.1g pseudoephedrine. DPP Noor Azrul Abdul Rahman prosecuted while Teoh was represented by P. Latsmanan, Khor Xin Qin and Mohd Ismail Mohd.
