Two provinces in Northeast hope to have 'smart' citiesThe northeastern provinces of Roi Et and Nakhon Ratchasima have submitted proposals to join the "smart city" development project, according to the Digital Economy and Society (DE) Ministry. Last year, the government began the project with seven pilot provinces -- Phuket, Chiang Mai, Khon Kaen, Bangkok, Chon Buri, Rayong and Chachoengsao. Nakhon Ratchasima was also the first province to present a step-by-step plan, he added. "The seven pilot provinces have made continued progress and their performance has yielded tangible results," said Mr Passakon. Khon Kaen, he said, also uses digital technology to help manage public health services.
