Two police officers, taxi driver charged with abducting Interpol official

Two Administration Police officers and a taxi driver were charged in a Kibera court on Monday with abducting a Burundian national attached to the Interpol. The magistrate further directed that the accused be supplied with copies of all witness statements that will be used during the hearing. Wycliffe Omangi Nyakundi, Benson Macharia Wamaitha and Zacharia Gachucha Muthoni (the taxi driver) appeared before senior resident magistrate Jane Kamau. They denied the charge of abducting Buregeya Athanaze on May 25, 2016 at Capricon Grand Restaurant behind Nakumatt Prestige on Ngong road. It is also claimed that they told the victim to sell his personal items and leave the country.
