Two minor detainees in Shenzhen handed over to HK police

Mainland authorities have handed over to Hong Kong police two young suspects at noon today, who were among the 12 intercepted by the coast guard and detained in Shenzhen following a failed attempt to escape to Taiwan on August 23. The two - Hoang Lam Phuc, 16, and Liu Tsz-man, 17 - have been brought to Tin Shui Wai Police Station after returning to the city. A police spokesman said they will be brought to court once they completed their 14-day mandatory quarantine. “The two may face additional charges of failing to surrender to custody as shall have been appointed, as the two have absconded and missed their court hearings and have since been wanted by the court,” said the police spokesman.
