A saturated slope that collapsed this week severely damaged a portion of northbound Interstate 5 near Castaic, leaving the road’s two right-hand lanes closed indefinitely, according to state traffic officials. After multiple storms soaked southern California, a large section of a slope buckled and collapsed south of Templin Highway into the two north lanes of 5 Tuesday, Caltrans officials said. The other two northbound lanes of the freeway will remain open. The National Weather Service forecast more rain across Los Angeles County for Saturday, with the heaviest bouts occurring in the evening. According to the weather service, drivers should beware of falling rocks in ravines and steep slopes, small traffic jams on the road and flooding in small streams.
