BINTULU: Two people, including a 15-year-old boy, were killed when a fire destroyed a two-storey workers’ quarters on Jalan Nyigu here in the early hours of Monday (Feb 2). The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 1.01am and rushed to the scene. The operations commander reported that the blaze had engulfed a non-permanent two-storey workers’ block with 28 rooms. "The structure was completely destroyed in the blaze," the department said in a statement on Monday. "Both were confirmed dead at the scene and later handed over to the police for further investigation," the statement added.
