Her condition deteriorated quickly and she was moved to Shaishav hospital in Pune where she died soon after admission on July 26.The mysterious fever claimed another life on August 3. Aniket Kolape (10) lived only whose family lives just half-a-kilometre away from Shruti's home and also suffered sudden fever and convulsion. We initiated fever surveillance through which we identified 90 villagers, 80% of whom are children below the age 15 years, complaining of fever and bodyache. Samples of four patients have tested positive for enteric fever or typhoid and two villagers tested positive for H3N2 influenza which is seasonal flu. Barring these 11 samples, the remaining patient samples tested negative for all kinds of mosquito-borne infections, Chandipura viral disease and Japanese Encephalitis," Shinde explained.
