Two people were injured when their car collided with a power pole near Mataura this afternoon. A police spokeswoman said the accident happened at Old Coach Rd (State Highway 93) near Heaps Rd about 1.45pm. St John South Island communications adviser Gerard Campbell said a helicopter transported two patients with moderate injuries to Southland Hospital in Invercargill. The highway was closed for a time but the NZ Transport Agency advises that the road is now clear.
