One person was taken to hospital after a crash between a motorcycle and a van in New Plymouth, around 3pm on Wednesday. Taranaki emergency services were called to two different car and motorcycle crashes within an hour on Wednesday afternoon. Officers were first called to the intersection of Belair Ave and Clearmont Cres, in New Plymouth, around 3pm. A St John Ambulance spokesperson said one person was taken to Taranaki Base Hospital in a serious condition. Then, around 4pm, a second person was taken to the same hospital with moderate injuries, after another crash involving a motorcycle and a car at the Manaia roundabout in South Taranaki.
