The kennel contacted NCC Dog Control at midday on Tuesday and handed the dogs over. Edwards said they would rehome the dogs, normally via the SPCA, if the owner didn't come forward within seven days. Edwards said it wasn't usual for dogs to be dumped or lost in the Whangamoas. He said the more common scenario often included hunting dogs that went missing and popped up around the area.
