They hailed from two villages—Mitremohol and Bohor— and were involved in the fierce fight over the ownership of mosque land in Salutika Bazar, said Gowainghat Police Station OC Delowar Hossain quoting villagers. The dead with bullet wounds were identified as Monai Mian, son of Abdul Jalil, and Rubel Ahmed, son of Azizul Islam. The injured were admitted to the Sylhet Osmani Medical Collage Hospital. The local member of parliament sat with the rival villagers to settle the issue. At one stage, the villagers fought with weapons and sticks, according to the police.
