A vandalism case has been filed on Thursday against nine locals, including two deceased men, over a clash between locals and forest officers in Gazipur’s Sreepur upazila. Inspector Rafiqul said the Sreepur Sadar forest bit officer filed a vandalism case accusing the nine for attacking the forest officers in connection with grabbing forest land. The witnesses said the clash was triggered when locals attacked forest officer Mozammel Haque after he was seen abusing Parul, the wife of Abdus Salam. However, Mozammel denied the allegation, saying he arrived on the scene after being informed that the forest land was occupied. “When I tried to stop them from occupying forest land, the locals attacked us and vandalised both of the motorbikes which we arrived on.”
