Two people are dead after separate crashes in Otago overnight. The first person died in a single-vehicle crash near Heriot, in the Clutha district, about 11pm. Police said it appeared the vehicle left the road and crashed into a paddock between Switzers Rd and Moncurs Rd. Meanwhile, a man is dead following a crash in North Otago early today. Police said the man's vehicle crashed into a bridge on Wainakarua Rd, between Herbert-Hampden Rd and Woodburn Rd, about 1.50am.
