Two dead after crash near WhakapapaGOOGLE The van and truck collided at SH48-47 intersection. Two people are dead after a van and truck crashed near Whakapapa in the central North Island. "The road is expected to be closed for some time while the serious crash unit investigates," police said in a statement. State Highway 48 is the road to the Whakapapa ski field village and to the Chateau Tongariro. The Serious Crash Unit have been called to the scene.
