Two-day weekend shutdown in 11 Odisha districts begin

Security was tightened to enforce the complete shutdown of non-essential services on Saturdays and Sundays in the 11 districts - Ganjam, Puri, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Khurda, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Bolangir, officials said. The two-day weekend shutdown will continue in the districts till the end of June. Odisha has so far reported 2,781 Covid cases, while 1,604 patients have recovered and eight people have died. Of the 11 districts where weekend shutdown came into force, Ganjam has reported the highest number of 597 Covid cases, followed by Jajpur at 312, Khurda (226), Balasore (190), Cuttack (167), Kendrapara (163), Bhadrak (140), Bolangir (116) and Puri (100).
