Suspected al Shabaab militants reportedly killed two officers in an attack on a police post in Pandanguo, Lamu West, early on Wednesday morning. A senior officer who sought anonymity said two police officers and one of the attackers were killed but that an official report had not yet been filed. It is said the attackers also raided homes, stealing food, clothes and other items, and that they destroyed a communication mast in the village. Resident Chargnre Sharuti said the attackers burned the police station and that they saw flames in the area at about 5.30am. Sharuti, a community health worker based at Pandanguo dispensary, said the gang took all the drugs in the facility.
