Fire services said they were in the process of freeing an unspecified number of people who had been trapped following the crash shortly after 5pm. Three brigades had been called to attend the incident and police were also called to the incident on West Coast Rd in Kirwee. The jaws of life are being used to free multiple people trapped in their vehicles after two cars collided in Selwyn, Canterbury. Fire services were unable to confirm how many people had become trapped and needed medical attention. St John ambulance was on the way to the scene at 5.30 tonight.
