Two men have been arrested following separate incidents of criminal damage for defacing public books of condolences for Detective Garda Colm Horkan at two Dublin Garda stations. In one incident a 23-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly wrote the word "rat" on a page of the book of condolence at Blanchardstown garda station on Saturday. In the second incident, a man was arrested for allegedly scribbling on the pages of the book of condolence put out at Tallaght garda station, also on Saturday. In the Blanchardstown incident, the suspect was arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act before being detained and released and then charged under the Criminal Damage Act 1991. The suspect in relation to the Tallaght incident, also 23 years old, was arrested on similar charges but released to appear in Tallaght court at a future date.
