Two arrested over bushfire threatening homes in western Sydney

Two teenagers have been arrested over a bushfire that has damaged properties in Sydney’s west. The New South Wales Rural Fire Service said water-bombing aircraft had been deployed and emergency warning messages sent to homes in the area. The fast-moving fire was threatening homes earlier in the afternoon, with unconfirmed reports that at least one house had been lost. Emergency warnings were issued for residents in Cranebrook, Llandilo and Londonderry as huge plumes of smoke spread across neighbouring suburbs. Plumes of smoke can be seen from Orchard Hills, about 8km away @abcnewsSydney pic.twitter.com/aEZKCn6NaWNine News Sydney (@9NewsSyd) UPDATE: Xavier College is being evacuated following nearby bushfire at Cranebrook.
