Stephen Nachoto, 35, and Tom Divaloi, 21, who are camel herders within the conservancy claimed that they collected the carcass on Friday night from a man they identified as Hassan and had planned to hand it over to the warders. But they were arrested after they were caught with the carcass at home. The conservancy’s security manager Jeff Mito said the two were arrested at around 7pm and were taken to Elementaita Police Station before being handed over to the Kenya Wildlife Service officers. Our animals have to be protected both by the warders ad the community in general,” said Mr Mito.
