Two armed forces personnel killed in four-vehicle crash


BANDAR PERMAISURI: Two Malaysian Army personnel were killed when the vehicle they were in was involved in a four-vehicle crash at KM70, Jalan Bandar Permaisuri, Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kota Baru here on Monday (March 16). "Police learned of the crash involving four vehicles, including a trailer lorry at about 12.05pm. "The crash is believed to have happened when the car the victims were in, which was from Kuala Terengganu heading to Kota Baru lost control and entered the opposite lane and collided with the trailer lorry. Meanwhile, Setiu Fire and Rescue Station chief Mohd Sarizan Mohamad Sapawi said that they received a distress call about the crash at about 11.42am and firefighters discovered the two victims pinned in their car when they arrived. Firefighters had to use special equipment to extricate the victims from the car, he said, and were pronounced dead by medical officials at the scene.
