Two UP members held in Rajshahi over torturing teens


Police have arrested two Union Parishad members in a case filed over torturing two teenagers after tying them to a tree in Rajshahi’s Durgapur upazila. The arrestees are Durgapur’s Jhaluka Union Parishad members Abdul Motaleb and Abdul Latif Mirza. Police were trying to arrest the other accused including UP Chairman Mojahar Ali Mondol, the key accused in the case, the OC added. Rizvi’s father Ziaur told the Dhaka Tribune that the two kids had been beaten up indiscriminately on the charge of stealing a goat. Mojahar Ali Mondol, Abdul Motaleb and Mirza Abdul Latif were present among others during the arbitration.
