Two Liberia MOE Reps Observe US Regional Middle School Science Bowl Competitions -


Ten New York City Middle Schools competed for a regional championship at NYC Middle School Science Bowl, which was observed by two representatives from Liberia Ministry of Education. The two MOE representatives are: Ms. Sangay Faeflen, Director of Science Education at MOE, and Mr. Lynon Martor, District Education Officer of Bain Garr in Nimba County. In support of STEM education in Liberia, the I-HELP Liberia Project has hosted two annual science bowl competitions for high school students in Liberia (2015 and 2016). The MOE team will also witness the Bay Scallop Bowl, a regional competition of the National Ocean Sciences Bowl (NOSB) held annually in New York. Being in the US, the MOE reps will have the opportunity to continue the discussion with I-HELP Liberia Project on the development of a STEM laboratory manuals, Liberia Science Bowl 2017, and Liberia Math Olympia in June 2017.
