KOTA KINABALU: Two Immigration Department personnel based at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) have been arrested in a probe into the smuggling of Bangladeshi nationals. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the two detained were junior staff members. "I have directed Immigration Director-General Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali to tighten security at all checkpoints at KLIA," he said after attending a briefing at the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) in Lahad Datu on Thursday. Dr Ahmad Zahid said this when asked about reports of a Bangladeshi syndicate that had allegedly made up to RM5.2mil from the smuggling of its nationals through KLIA. Also present at the briefing on Thursday were Sabah Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman and Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim.
