Lake County Sheriff’s Deputies responded about 4:05 a.m. January 9, 2023 to a report of a head-on traffic crash with injuries on northbound Route 41, approximately ½ mile north of Stearns School Road in unincorporated Gurnee. Lake County Sheriff’s deputies arrived and located a Nissan Altima and Ford Edge with major damage. The Nissan struck a northbound Ford Edge, driven by a 54-year-old man of North Chicago. The victim was extricated by 4:32 a.m.Autopsies are being scheduled by the Lake County Coroner’s Office. The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigation Team.
