Appearing before Her Honour Susana Eduful at Circuit Court ‘3’, the accused, Chen Xia (37, a manager) and He Xiao Rei, alias Nana (46, a bar attendant), pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit human trafficking, human trafficking, and abetment of crime. The prosecution revealed that nearly GH¢50,000 in illicit proceeds were allegedly paid to Chen Xia as part of the operation. Both Chen Xia and He Xiao Rei remain in custody to ensure they do not interfere with the ongoing search for the fugitive accomplice, Le Thi Ngoc.
