Two Auckland KFC stores shut down by striking workers

Two KFC restaurants in Auckland have been shut down by striking workers unhappy with low pay and working conditions. Unite Union organiser Joe Carolan said he had heard the St Luke's KFC had also been shut down by strikes. Last week Restaurant Brands reported net profit after tax of $24.1 million for the year ended February 2016, up one per cent on 2015. "A company making tens of thousands of dollars... should pay their workers more than the minimum wage," Carolan said. He was disappointed Restaurant Brands were "running to the bottom" when it came to pay.
